On Our Way To Carbon Neutral

Real PM offset our entire annual carbon emissions in 2022, making us a carbon neutral organisation!

In 2021 Real PM became a Carbon Assessed Organisation as part of our journey to become a Carbon Neutral organisation. We found that over Real PM had created 69 tonnes of carbon in just one year! We reacted immediately and decided to offset our carbon emissions by working with Ecologi, an award-winning B Corp that is Verified Carbon Standard and Gold Standard.

Through Ecologi, we funded two climate projects that are key to tackling climate change. These projects are in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and not only support the fight against global warming but also focus on supporting local communities through employment and education.

Real PM pledged to offset 48.3 tonnes of carbon (tC02e) to the Wind Power Project Northeast of Bangkok, a Verified Carbon Standard project (VERRA).

The purpose of this project is to generate clean electricity through the utilisation of wind energy by implementing 90 megawatts (MW) of wind power from 30 Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) of an individual capacity of 3 MW each. The energy generated is then exported to the Thailand National Grid. The project activity will therefore displace an equivalent amount of electricity which would have otherwise been generated by fossil fuel dominant electricity grid.

Real PM also offset 20.7 tonnes of carbon (tC02e) by funding a project protecting the Tambopata-Bahuaja biodiversity reserve in Peru which is also a VERRA-verified project.

This project is implemented on the ground by Peruvian NGO, AIDER. The project aims to prevent deforestation and avoid greenhouse gasses by establishing conservation agreements, promoting sustainable economic activity in the local communities, surveillance and control within the NPA, including park ranger training and infrastructure support, and strengthening forest governance.

Sustainability is of great importance to Real PM and whilst we continue to look for ways to reduce our carbon emissions as a part of our goal to be carbon neutral, we will continue to use Ecologi to offset the emissions that we do create.
