Project Description

This Grade II listed landmark is being extensively refurbished in line with modern environmental standards. 90% of the existing structure will be retained, with 1,600 sq m of heritage finishes carefully preserved. To deliver on sustainability goals, the glazing will be ‘replaced with an alternative to improve thermal performance and passive shading, with the Crown Estate installing digital systems to accurately monitor environmental performance.’

At completion, New Zealand House will deliver 138,000 sq ft of commercial and hospitality space. Meanwhile, retained within its prominent position in the interior will stand the Te Pouihi; an intricate and spiritually important Māori carving that was gifted to the original building to symbolise the link between the United Kingdom and New Zealand. This is just one example of how the project team on this development are constantly striving to honour the past and future of this building.

Real PM’s Role

Real PM are currently employed by The Crown Estate providing programme advice and reviews of the contractor’s programme during the second stage of the New Zealand House development. We are also carrying out monthly progress monitoring as the development progresses.
